The world below lies desolate
The spirits of evil are fallen
The angels of God are rejoicing
The tombs of the dead are empty
For Christ is risen indeed from the dead,
the first of the sleepers

Hippolytus of Rome, reputedly a C2nd-3rd Roman soldier converted by St. Lawrence.

Do you know this- you probably do:
ROTAS
OPERA
TENET
AREPO
SATOR

THE SOWER AT THE PLOUGH ,HOLDS WITH HIS SACRAFICE, THE WHEELS.
A suitable message for Easter.
I really enjoyed the Comitatus pages - which have had a great deal added since I last went there. Keep up the good work all of you...
best wishes
Alan

Thanks Alan,

I can only admire the talent in making that square. I got Charles Thomas' book 'Christian Celts, Messages and Images' out of the library and he shows post Roman Christian inscriptions often have hidden messages and very well written Latin. Hard to imagine monks studying classical Latin in those little beehive chapels!

Thanks for the comments about the web site :-)

Look after yourself, brother.
